Stress, Stress and MORE Stress…

Here is one list making accomplishment that isn’t noteworthy…seventh year in a row the event planner role is considered one of thee most stressful professions.

Full transparency…

11 years into my career and 2018 almost broke me. Honestly, I still haven’t fully recovered. My account tripled in business but my staff remained the same. I took on being a planner and a manager. Depression set in and I began experiencing anxiety attacks.

Being a planner comes with it’s own stresses, but I have added stress planning in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry at a third party management company. The different compliance regulations can be time-consuming. Planners in the industry have to double check that she didn’t go one cent over the meal cap for lunch or how can we afford a beverage with my low cap in San Francisco…

This year my primary focus is to be consistent with self-care in every form. I’m setting reminders to tell me to go bed, drink more water, read a Scripture or even pray. Bases on 2018, I knew that I needed to be more intentional about my plan to take better care of myself. Also to make myself a priority…which is where I really slacked at last year. Everything and everybody came before ME.

To all of my fellow planners, we have to remember to fill our own cups because we can’t pour out if it’s empty.

What are some of your best self-care actions?
